My friend loved the gift I bought from your store!
As we celebrate Small Business Saturday, I want to take a moment to thank everyone for the support I have received over the years. Small business is a big part of my background and probably yours if you stop to think about it. My dad was a career firefighter but owned a car wash and a lawn service on the side. As a child I went with him to the car wash, helped clean out the bays, fill the change machine and fill the soap, I can still see the soap tank and smell the scent as I type this. As a college student I spent a few summers fertilizing lawns with him, of course I got paid but I also got to spend the summer with my dad. My mom managed the school cafeteria but she also did the books for the Knights of Columbus bingo and the car wash, and she did tax returns on the side. She gave me my love of numbers. My grandmother cleaned a Dr. office for years and it was so much fun to go with her and help. She also catered weddings into her 80’s. My first job was at Bonanza, a steakhouse owned by a local family of which almost all the members spent time working. I went to college, earned my degree and spent 15 years with General Motors. During those years I had a few side jobs, NuSkin, Pampered Chef and now my jewelry and store. Until I really thought about it today, I would have said my dad was a fireman and my mom worked in the school cafeteria, but in reality, they were so much more. They instilled my work ethic and community spirit through those small businesses. So I challenge you today to think a little deeper about how small business has had an effect on your life. ... My dad was also a small business owner so I know the work that gets put into it every day and the sacrifices of family. It was an invaluable lesson. We were the lucky ones!! 😁
